Blue Brain x Pink Line Project x RESTRICTION: A Silent Dance Performance

On Sunday, August 1st at 2 PM in the SE corner of Meridian Hill Park (Washington DC), dancers from Urban Artistry will be premiering a "silent" dance piece; silent to those passing by, that is. The audience will be listening to accompanying music, composed by BLUEBRAIN for the occasion, on headphones with a portable music device they're brought with them. The music will be made available as a free MP3 download from bluebra.in. Audience members should come with this already downloaded to their device. A group countdown will occur at 2 o'clock to ensure synchronicity between everyones devices (dancers and attendees).

Incredible Staple Art by Baptiste Debombourg!!!

"Like Ran Hwang's beautiful murals, Baptiste Debombourg's creates incredibly detailed art that can only be fully appreciated up close. Using just a white wall as his backdrop, Debombourg carefully placed 35,000 staples over a period of 75 hours to create two pieces of art. These are titled Air Force One and Air Force Two.

Notice how these beings are flying straight down towards the earth. Debombourg wanted to play with the idea of contemporary aggression. He cites Italian Mannerism artists as his inspiration. Check out 9 more images after the jump.

The Soundry will host our first juried art show entitled “12 Angry Women”, on display from September 26th to October 24th, 2009. The Opening Reception will be held on September 26th from 8:00pm to 11:00pm!!

Here’s the gist: Artwork in the show will ...be submitted by ONLY MALE ARTISTS and the jury will be comprised of ONLY FEMALE art professionals. 12, in fact. There is no theme or restriction based on subject or medium, and entry is open to non-Soundry-members as well as artists who are not local to Northern Virginia.

Supertouch offers a step-by-step look at the creation of this masterwork which was created FOR the artist by some of the masters of European jewelry making at London’s Bentley & Skinner using over 8,601 of the world’s most perfect, flawless diamonds and 2,156 grams of fresh platinum (not to mention $28 million of the artist’s own money). And while the exhibit closed on July 7th without the piece being sold, don’t expect to see it on markdown anytime soon…
